A couple of weeks ago at our epic launch party, one of the fun things we got to do was to introduce our two mascots: Beamur and Sodt.
Handmade (and complete originals/uniques) by local artist Minu – aska Heike Theis – we think they’re about the best things ever.
And even better? Minu was able to give us not only names for them*, but also back stories!
So, without further ado, and after a photo of them, their back stories, courtesy of their creator :)
Beamur
Beamur was created a cute teddy bear named Bear, but something was different about him. He was not like the other Bears.
It all started with little things: he roamed the studio alone at night, digging through boxes of fabric, looking at glass eyes and teddy joints.
But one day I came back to the studio and his fur had turned all black, the next day his eyes had turned all green, one day later I found him holding a pair of
scissors and all covered in furry stuff.I started to think it rather…odd.
The next day he said he was going away. I wondered what might be in the travelling bag almost the same size as him, but I did not ask.
He took his travelling scarf as well.
His good-bye note was signed Beamur.
Sodt
I always knew that Sodt was hiding in the box with all the… how should I put this… when you make creatures some of them…they do not…you know, they
just don’t [work]. So you re-use some of their parts and the other parts. That’s what’s in that box. And the ghosts of the lost creatures they…they became Sodt. It’s one of those mystical things, you know.
Anyway it took me a while to realise that Sodt was gone as well and now I think I know what was in that travelling bag.
A week ago I got an invite to a party. The invite was signed Beamur and Sodt. It’s something about lemurs, and cars, and Mongolia…
When we get back, we’d like to auction at least one of them off. Ideally, the creature would go to sick kids, and the money would go to our charities :)

* aimee’s crap at naming things. Dane’s not, but yeah – we thought it would be cool anyway to ‘adopt’ them fully-formed as individuals.
